Day 1: of my overseas trip. Performed at MTV Italy’s TRL show live in Florence. There were 5000 people there. Did a meet and greet afterwards and got rushed by fans on the way out. Need more security. Food here is the best in Europe.
Day 2: Milan. Did 1000 interviews today. Okay it was only about 20 but it felt like more. They string then one after the other and they blend together in a game called “say what you mean in 20 different ways without losing track of what you meant in the first place”. Keeps it enjoyable. Shot an interview for All Music (flirted with beautiful presenter on that show) and performed on RAI’s Scalo 76. Tonight, we go to London. Check out some of the photos…
Day 3: London. Another early morning. I am not a morning person but I’m trying. Taped interviews for Chartshow and The Fix, did various other interviews, a magazine photo shoot and afterwards, back at the hotel, I fell asleep before dinner. I would have been asleep for the night but I managed to wake up to have my favorite kind of food with some key people from EMI UK/Europe at a London sushi hotspot called Zuma. Plenty of fine food so far on this trip.
Day 4: London: Yesterday was the 4th day of my European promo trip. I did a British morning show called “This Morning.” Spent the rest of the day in a suite doing more interviews. The strangest questions came from Peter Robinson of Popjustice.com. Kudos to him for keeping me fully alert. Later, a webchat with Bliss online, and then back to my suite to chill before dinner. Instead, I crashed out and didn’t wake up until this morning. Finally feeling rested and ready for more. Germany, here I come….
Day 5: Bremen Germany: Fully rested, we flew into Hamburg and drove to Bremen. Germany is all green fields and windmills. I came to perform at a big televised event that the Germans do about 4 times a year called “The Dome.” 8000 fans came to an arena in Bremen and saw about a dozen German artists plus me and Sara Bareilles. I spent all day at the venue rehearsing, doing the red carpet and other press. I went on near the end of the show and the audience was amazing. We’re hitting the afterparty later.
